This series examines what’s left behind after losing someone you love. Each piece is a quiet record of grief blooming within a material strong enough to hold it even as it alters what remains. The surfaces bear the marks of time, tears, history and chemistry formed using concrete and rock salt. The materials hold space for what is heavy, what’s missing and what seeps through the weight of loss.

Salt Stories are the newest pieces in the Efflorescence series. I started this work in the wake of my sister’s death in January 2026 and my father’s passing in May. The spheres are made to be held in your hands as a concrete reminder that the people you love continue to shape you, even after they are gone. Holding loss and love in the palm of your hand connects you to what is still living and waiting to effloresce. It keeps love alive and the conversations going.

The spheres vary in size (1.75 inches, 2 .5 inches, 4 and 5 inches) and are made with concrete, rock salt and concrete colorant. The 3 larger sizes come with a metal stand.

Wall hung pieces are mounted to a 3/4inch wooden cradle, wired to hang.
