If you build it, they will come.

We built a garden gallery and people came! Twenty former art students signed up to share their Art in the Garden on June 21, 2025. I loved every minute of it.

Brene Brown says, “We are born makers. We are meant to move what we’re learning from our heads, to our hearts, through our hands.” That has basically been my mission during my three decades long teaching career. Hosting this show allowed me to reconnect with people who, even after 35 years, are still willing to share their art with me. I feel so lucky.

Making something matters much more than what you’re making it with. It doesn’t matter if you’re using food, dirt, words, paint, clay, yarn, metal, pencil, markers, resin, flowers, concrete, music, or fixing a lawn mower. Imagining an idea, or fulfilling a need and making it real, are powerful and creative acts. Don’t stop. Keep creating the world you want.
