Being a practicing artist and a full-time art teacher is a challenge, and the two rarely occur in equal balance. I am personally rewarded by following my interests and expressing my own ideas through my work. I enjoy the process of getting lost in creative thoughts, acting on them, and being attentive to what shows up. Whether I’m making art or creating and planning new lesson ideas, the energy generated by the creative process propels me in the direction I need to go. Teaching fuels my creative process and my creative process enhances my teaching practice.
A quote that grounds me in my life and career is: “If you don’t make the time to work on creating the life you want, you’re eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life that you don’t want.” – Kevin Ngo
The work featured in this section is a sampling of some of my artistic endeavors. My 9-12 students’ work is featured in the HS Gallery and my 6-8 students’ work is featured in the MS Gallery.
